Objective: To evaluate how the presence of palms is a ected in two fragments of the forest (mature forest and secondary forest) in Antioquia. Methodology: Linear transects of 24 x 4 m (0.01 ha) were carried out, in each transect the species present in the area were recorded taking into account their di erent stages of development. Results: A total of 8 species of palms distributed in six genera with an abundance of 104 individuals were recorded. The mature forest was the most diverse with an alpha Fisher of 2.17, and the three forms of growth were presented (seedlings, juveniles and adults). The depth of the mulch was positively related to the richness of palms with a (r2=0,991, p=0.028). In the secondary forest, 4 species and 4 genera of palms with an abundance of 20 individuals were recorded, this type of forest was less diverse with a Fisher alpha of 1.50. They recorded two forms of growth (seedlings and adults). The variable that was related to palm richness was the depth of the mulch with a (r2=0.998, p=0.014). Conclusions: The diversity and abundance of palms are highly a ected by the loss of forests; our results show that forest fragmentation is one of the major anthropic factors that increases the decrease of species and individuals of palms in the forests of Antioquia
