Abstract

This research presents a new contribution to the knowledge of Plectrohyla guatemalensis for El Salva- dor, a critically endangered species world-wide and restricted to Central America. Through active search in cloud forest habitats, we discovered five specimens of Plectrohyla guatemalensis in a new locality at an elevation of 2500 masl, within the rock masses belonging to the Alotepeque Sierra. This new location expands the known distribution and elevation range of the species in El Salvador. This finding represents an issue of great importance for the amphibian conservation efforts in the country
